Marriage

"Marry the right person.  This one decision will determine 90% of your happiness of misery."

Quote from:  H. Jackson Brown, Jr., 21 Suggestions for Success.

Loneliness

"There is a difference between being alone and being lonely. When you have good health, varied interests, close friends with whom you can share life's pleasures, and the financial security to do things that bring you joy, there's no need to feel lonely or to remarry."

Quote from:
Tom Blake,"Many singles are content with their lives," Orange County Register, section Accent (Dec 21, 2001), p. 3.

Family

"There is a transcendent power in a strong intergenerational family.  An effectively interdependent family of children, parents, grandparents, aunts, uncles, and cousins can be a powerful force in helping people have a sense of who they are, where they came from, and what they stand for."

Quote from:  Stephen R. Covey, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People (Utah:  Franklin Covey Company, 1997).

Direction

One way we can know that we are aligned with the life force that is God is that we feel more and more alive.  Notice what gives you aliveness and what diminishes you, deadens and numbs you so that you only skim the surface of life.  Begin to say yes to what quickens and energizes, to that which brings joy and gratitude.

Intuition

To KNOW how to choose a PATH with heart is to learn how to FOLLOW intuitive feeling.  LOGIC can tell you superficially where a path MIGHT lead to, but it cannot judge whether your HEART will be in it.

Jean Shinoda Bolen

The Present

Start living now.  Stop saving the good china for that special occasion.  Stop withholding your love until that special person materializes.   Every day you are alive is a special occasion.  Every minute, every breath, is a gift from God.

Difficulties

No SOUL that aspires can ever fail to rise; no HEART that loves can ever be ABANDONED.  DIFFICULTIES exist on that in overcoming THEM we may grow STRONG.

Annie Besant

A Butterfly's Lesson

Failures

Life is fundamentally a matter of growing, a growth experience.  Missing the mark is one of the ways in which we learn to hit the target.  Failure is a vital part of achieving success.  We have erroneously thought of success as "getting there" while actually success is "earning the right to be there."  and earning means learning.  Setbacks, even failures, may be an important part of that learning.

Eric Butterworth

Gratitude

In our daily lives, we must see that it is not happiness that makes us grateful, but the gratefulness that makes us happy.

Albert Clarke
